Long run, long, long, run!

Miles - 14.35
Pace - 8:25
January Total - 55.75
Neighborhoods - Inman Park, Grant Park, Cabbagetown, Candler Park, Poncey Highlands

Yesterday Heath and I ran a long, long way.  I did my first 14.35.  I know I am behind on my long running, but my two weeks off really hurt me.  I am confident that I will prevail though.  My biggest issue right now is controlling my pace and slowing down.  I really think if I would slow down about 20 seconds a mile, it would help.

I used Gu gel on this run and it really helps.  What I didn't do, and should have, was use the Gu 15 minutes before I ran.  And I have to remember to wash it down with water so it will absorb into the body.

I think I am going to run the Silver Comet Trail on Saturday.  I hope to do 18 and then I am done with long runs until the marathon.  It's supposed to be relatively flat compared to running in Atlanta and I should be able to better judge my performance in Jacksonville, since it is mostly flat.

I started cleaning my desk today at work in preparation for our move next week.  I found tons of pictures of Gracie, including the pic of when we first got her.  She was so tiny.  I miss her so much.  Every night at this time, 11 p.m., it feels weird because I don't have to walk her.  I am sure the neighbors miss seeing her beautiful face and even the regular homeless people at the bus stop across the street probably miss seeing her.  So many people loved her.  Makes me sad for them as well.

Well, off to bed, if I can get up off the sofa.

Peaceful Running!
